The Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) has stepped up plans to deliver dedicated electricity to the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park in Odukpani through a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
The collaboration, which began with the submission of an Expression of Interest in 2025, reached a significant milestone following a high-level engagement on February 25, 2026—signaling progress toward full project execution.
Under the agreement, NDPHC will supply 10 megawatts (MW) of electricity from its Calabar Generation Company Limited, ensuring stable and reliable power for industrial activities within the park. The dedicated supply is expected to address one of the major bottlenecks to manufacturing and processing operations in Nigeria—unreliable electricity.
The Nigerian Oil and Gas Park in Odukpani, located in Cross River State, is designed as a strategic industrial hub to support downstream oil and gas activities. It will enable the production, processing, and distribution of refined petroleum products and gas-based materials, while also encouraging local manufacturing of equipment and components used in the sector.
Industry stakeholders have described the initiative as a major boost to Nigeria’s local content agenda. By ensuring consistent power and an enabling business environment, the project is expected to deepen indigenous participation, reduce reliance on imports, and strengthen value addition across the oil and gas value chain.
Beyond industrial growth, the project is projected to create jobs, stimulate small and medium-sized enterprises, and drive economic development within Cross River State and surrounding regions. It also aligns with national goals of accelerating industrialisation, expanding access to reliable energy for productive use, and enhancing the competitiveness of Nigeria’s energy sector.
When operational, the partnership between NDPHC and NCDMB is expected to serve as a model for integrating power infrastructure with industrial development across Nigeria.
