The Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has moved to strengthen collaboration with the Lagos State Government in a bid to accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.

Led by its Chairman, Chief Idris Olorunnimbe, the NCC board paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as part of efforts to deepen partnership on key sector priorities, including infrastructure development, innovation and improved service delivery.

The engagement focused on opportunities for joint initiatives capable of addressing major challenges confronting the telecom industry, particularly in network expansion, digital inclusion and regulatory alignment.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who received the delegation, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to working closely with the NCC to strengthen the telecommunications ecosystem and support interventions aimed at removing bottlenecks affecting sector performance.

He assured the commission of Lagos State’s readiness to provide the necessary support required to enhance telecom operations and sustain the state’s growing digital economy.

The visit signals a renewed push for stronger collaboration between regulators and sub-national governments at a time when Nigeria’s telecom sector faces increasing demands for broadband penetration, service quality improvements and investment-friendly policies.

Industry stakeholders believe that improved cooperation between the NCC and Lagos could accelerate broadband expansion and further position Lagos as a leading telecommunications hub in West Africa.
