Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has advised its customers to shun illegal activities and the use of unauthorized personnel A.K.A. NEPA 2 within its network. The advice followed increased reports from customers over cases of extortion and illegal connection by one “Chidi Moses” who has been transacting with unsuspecting customers of the Company under the guise of being an authorized personnel of Eko Electricity Distribution Company.
The General Manager, Corporate Communication of EKEDC, Godwin Idemudia who appealed to customers to desist from transacting with unauthorized personnel and be wary of unlicensed contractors that go about deceiving customers and fleecing them of their hard-earned money whilst perpetrating illegal activities such as illegal connection, meter bypass, energy theft and extortion.
He said “we advise and we will continue to appeal to our customers to shun all illegal activities and report them to us. Also, we also appeal to our customers to report any staff that demands for any form of gratification from you for doing his/her job. We do not condone any form of extortion and we will ensure that any offender is brought to book.
Idemudia closed by commending customers for their cooperation with staff and promised them that the improvement plans of the Company will soon be brought to the fore and the overarching goal of stable electricity supply will be achieved.
