Nigerians are to expect a lull in economic and commercial activities as the country will be experiencing a drastic reduction in power supply across the country in the next three days.

The largest power station in the country, Egbin Power Station, with an installed capacity of 1,320 megawatts has been shut down. The action is being embarked upon because the Nigerian Gas company that is the sole supplier of gas to the company has started doing maintenance jobs on its gas pipelines.

The consequence of this is that the national grid will be short of at least 1320 megawatts of electricity supply with its attendant consequences on the economy of the nations. The country is already suffering from an epileptic supply, and this will add to the already bad situation.

The management of Transmission Company of Nigeria Disclosed on Monday on X handle.

According to the TCN: “This is to notify the public that as at 11:13 hours of 18th December 2023, Egbin Power generating station was shut down to allow the Nigeria Gas Company (NGC) to maintain linking gas pipeline supplying gas”
