Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), the parent company of the Ecobank Group, the leading pan-African banking group, has announced that Jeremy Awori has officially assumed his role as Chief Executive Officer of the Ecobank Group, effective 1 March 2023.

The Group Chairman further noted that Jeremy has the full support of the ETI Board. Jeremy Awori brings with him over 25 years of experience in the banking industry, including close to a decade serving as CEO and Managing Director of Absa Bank Kenya Plc. Prior to joining Absa, Jeremy served in leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank across the Middle East and Africa. His extensive expertise, skills, and industry know-how make him a valuable addition to the Ecobank Group.
However, in the Zenith Bank, Adaora Umeoji, the deputy managing director of the bank, has retired from the service of the group after years of meritorious service in the bank.

she held the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Zenith Bank since 2016.
Her retirement was made known through the Nigerian Exchange website, in compliance with a regulatory requirement. The retirement is effective 24 February.
“This follows the expiration of her tenure of office as Deputy Managing Director in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) circular No.FPR/DIR/PUB/CIR/001/070 dated February 24, 2023,” the document said.
Umeoji joined the bank in 1998 and was later appointed as the head, the marketing group, Maitama branch and the deputy zonal head of Abuja Zone.
She became a board member of Zenith Bank in October 2012, and thereafter took the role of executive director overseeing the Abuja and Middle Belt zones of the bank.
