Tilewa Adebajo Requests Retraction of Debt Securitization Story
Several Platforms Apologize and Withdraw Coverage of Mr. Adebajo’s Remarks on National Assembly’s Debt Securitization Approval
Mr. Tilewa Adebajo’s statements concerning the National Assembly’s approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s debt securitization for the Muhammadu Buhari administration were initially reported by a few platforms.
Mr. Adebajo made these comments during his participation in the fourth Audit Reporting Workshop, an event organized by the FrontFoot Media Initiative.
The workshop aimed to emphasize the importance of state government audits as mandated by the 1999 Nigerian constitution and was attended by eighteen journalists.
However, in light of this, Mr. Adebajo has formally requested a retraction of the story, as he did not intend for his statements to be disseminated. We have reached out to the platforms that initially reported on the story and requested the withdrawal of their articles.
