President Tinubu Appoints New Heads of DSS, NIA

President Bola Tinubu has appointed new helmsmen for the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Intelligent Agency (NIA)

This development follows the resignation of the former bosses of the two agencies over the weekend.

While Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi replaces Yusuf Bichi as the new Director-General of the DSS, Mohammed Mohammed replaces Abubakar the new Director-General of the NIA

Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the newly appointed Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS)  has a distinguished career within the DSS, having risen through the ranks to hold key positions such as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi States. His extensive experience has provided him with a deep understanding of Nigeria’s security landscape.

Ajayi is expected to bring his significant expertise to his new role, where he will focus on strengthening national security and enhancing collaboration with other security agencies under the guidance of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA

The  former Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, resignation was  contained  in a statement signed by the media aide to President Bola Tinubu, Ajuri Ngelale on Monday.

Ngelale also announced the appointment of new Directors-General for the DSS and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), whose DG Ahmed Abubakar had earlier tendered his resignation to the President on Saturday.

Bichi made a steady career in the DSS where he rose to the highest rank.

He served variously in different capacities including as the State Director of Security (SDS) in Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto and Abia States.

He also served as a Director in all the National Headquarter Directorates namely; Security Enforcement, Operations, Intelligence, Inspectorate, Administration and Finance, National Assembly Liaison and the State Services Academy, Lagos, one of the training institutions of the Service.

Bichi was appointed the DG of the DSS by former President Muhammadu Buhari in September 2018.
