Residents of Oko-Erin community in the llorin West local Government area of Kwara State have appealed to the state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to come to their aid by equipping them with adequate power supply.
According to them, they have been in darkness for over a fortnight following the alleged stolen of two transformers serving the community by some unknown people.
It was revealed that one of the transformers located along Oko Erin road was completely removed while the cables and other vital items of the other transformers located along Mustapha Sedan street, off Oko Erin toad were carted away.
The current blackout had paralysed the socio-economic activities of the residents in the area especially some Artisans whose jobs require electricity.
The Chairman of the Residents Association of Mustapha Sedan street, off Oko Erin road, llorin, Abdullah I lbrahim lamented that the blackout is creating untold hardship and economic loss for the residents.
He said the issue of the stolen of the two transformers has been reported to the B Division of the Nigeria Police at Surulere, Ilorin, and they are still investigating the perpetrators of the stolen transformers.
Idris Animashaun, a POS operator and Dry cleaner along Mustapha Sedan street lamented that the blackout is affecting his business, calling no the state government to come to the aid of the community.
“We cannot bear the cost of any of the two stolen transformers, we are appealing to our amiable Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq to come to our aid”, Animashaun said.
Former Chairman of the defunct llorin local Government area, Oba Adebayo who is one of the elders in the area equally appealed to the state Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to come to the rescue of the Community from darkness.
