…urges MAN to engage in serious advocacy on issues affecting manufacturing concerns
The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of KAMHOLDING, Alhaji Kamoru Yusuf, has urged the management of Dangote Refinery not to despair despite the challenges the company may be facing, saying there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
Alhaji Mamoru Yusuf, also the vice chairman, South West of the Manufacturing Association of Nigeria (MAN), advised when MAN executive members paid a courtesy visit to the Dangote Refinery in Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos.
The Dangote Refinery is an amazing facility comparable to anyone around the globe stated. The facility has shown that it is possible to grow a business that is world-class locally.
He said the company can supply all the petrol that is required in the country and this would help reduce the incident of fuel scarcity if it is not eliminated.
According to him, it is only a person who has a high level of patriotism can do what Aliko Dangote has done by sitting the multibillion-dollar facility in Nigeria despite the myriad of problems the manufacturing sector is facing.
He called on the government to do something as regards the high interest rates which are constituting serious problems for the manufacturing and other sectors of the economy.
The KAMHOLDING boss said that high interest rates are one of the things that are inhibiting investment in the country, as they are too high for any investor to want to attempt setting up any company in the country.
He said investors are groaning under the regime of high interest rates which are eroding their profit margins.
The Dangote Refinery, he said, should be given every support it needs from the government so that it can work optimally and realize its objectives of creating jobs, bolstering the economy, and generating the necessary foreign exchange for the country.
“The government should do everything possible to help Dangote Refinery resolve some of the challenges it is having by giving it all the necessary support it deserves so that the company can excel.
Other stakeholders should also endeavour to rally around the company so that it can support the economy maximally,” he said.
“We have a local producer, he can produce, the quality is excellent, we must patronize our own,” he said.
He urged MAN to articulate its position on issues affecting manufacturers and present them to the government. “MAN must also drum support for Dangote Refinery so that it can get the necessary support from the government.”
