EKEDC Unveils New Board as Transgrid Enerco Takes Over; Engr. Olubunmi Peters Named Chairman, Wola Joseph-Condotti Appointed Interim CEO

Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EKEDC) has announced a major leadership transition following the takeover of its board by Transgrid Enerco, ushering in a new phase in the company’s governance and management structure.

The transition follows the resignation of the former board led by Dr. Dere Otubu of West Power & Gas Limited (WPG). The newly constituted Board of Directors is now chaired by Engr. (Dr.) Olubunmi Peters.

Other members of the new board include Prof. George Nwangwu, Faruk Aliyu, Kolapo Joseph, Rasheed Olaoluwa, and Ayo Gbeleyi, who represents the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).

In a related development, Rekhiat Momoh has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of EKEDC. The new board has appointed Wola Joseph-Condotti as Interim Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect, citing confidence in her leadership capability, deep institutional knowledge, and ability to ensure operational continuity and stakeholder confidence.

Mrs. Momoh’s tenure as CEO was marked by notable improvements in operational performance and service delivery across EKEDC’s franchise areas. The board expressed appreciation for her dedication and contributions to the company’s growth.

“We thank Rekhiat Momoh for her commitment to EKEDC and her efforts in advancing our mission to deliver reliable electricity distribution services to our customers,” Engr. Peters said. “We wish her well in her future endeavours.”

Speaking on the appointment of the interim CEO, the board noted that Wola Joseph-Condotti brings extensive experience across the power and energy sectors, with a clear mandate to consolidate recent gains, strengthen execution, and promote a high-performance, customer-centric culture.

Prior to her appointment, Wola served as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of West Power & Gas Limited, the former parent company of EKEDC, and other affiliated energy companies. She previously held several key roles within EKEDC, including pioneer Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary, Head of Regulatory Compliance, and Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer.

A widely respected thought leader in the energy sector, Wola has strong interests in renewable energy, sustainability, and carbon markets. She is known for aligning people, strategy, and performance to deliver measurable business outcomes.

She holds a law degree from the University of Ibadan, an LL.M from Harvard Law School, and an MBA from INSEAD Business School. Her professional achievements have earned her multiple recognitions, including being named among the Top 100 General Counsels in the Legal 500 GC Powerlist: Nigeria 2024.
