Key figures in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed confidence in the party’s readiness for its upcoming national convention, while signalling strong support for the adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Former Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade; ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, made the declaration on Monday in Abuja during activities of the convention’s Environment and Sanitation Sub-Committee.

The sub-committee, chaired by Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, is part of preparations for the convention scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

Speaking during the exercise, Ayade said the party was repositioning to deliver a renewed national agenda focused on citizens’ welfare, adding that the APC was optimistic about returning to power in the next electoral cycle.

“We are here to celebrate the convention and the anticipated adoption of President Tinubu,” he said, commending the environmental sanitation efforts within the Federal Capital Territory.

Secretary of the sub-committee, Uche Ekwunife, also declared that the ruling party was fully prepared not only for the convention but for the 2027 general elections.

According to her, the APC remains confident of securing a decisive victory, expressing optimism that President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima would be returned to office.

Masari, who chairs the Convention Central Coordination Committee, reiterated the party’s readiness, stating that all structures were in place ahead of the convention and the 2027 polls.

On his part, Dogara said the activities leading up to the convention reflected the party’s organisational strength and broader ambitions, including its commitment to both national and global policy engagement.

He acknowledged that ongoing reforms by the Tinubu administration may take time to yield results but maintained that their long-term benefits would justify renewed public support.

“The convention offers an opportunity not only to showcase the party’s capacity but also to account to Nigerians ahead of the next election,” Dogara said.
