…ask customers to bear with them
Electricity distribution companies across the country have blamed the current low supply of electricity to their customers on low supply from generation companies.
Consequent upon this, they have started sending messages across to their customers telling them why some areas are getting supply and some other areas are not getting.
For instance, Kaduna Electric while passing the information across to its customers on its twitter handle, stated: “We wish to explain to our customers who have observed rightly that some parts of Kaduna metropolis enjoy near uninterrupted supply despite the low generation.”
According to Abdulazeez Abdullahi, Head Corporate Communication, he said, “in order to safeguard the national grid from the risk of collapse, some feeders are being supplied uninterrupted power as directed by the system operator so that in the event of a disturbance, national grid can be saved from collapse.”
“We apologies for all inconveniences and urge restraint, as all efforts are being deployed to shore up power generation and subsequent transmission and distribution across our franchise areas.”
In the same vein, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, said: “This is to inform our esteemed customers that we are aware of the decline in power supply across our franchise areas. This is due to the insufficient load allocations received, hence we are compelled to load shed temporarily across the different areas.
“While we sincerely regret the inconvenience caused, we appeal for your patients as we are in collaboration with the stakeholders to ensure power supply is improved.”
It stated that the allocation for Thursday 19th, January 2023 was just 404.00 megawatts for a company that covers Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Niger and Kogi
The instability of supply has been the problem many communities are facing, especially, after the New Year. In some parts of Ikeja, Franchise area supply has been very unstable
