Standard Chartered Hosts Maiden Edition of Pop-Up Market for Aspiring Entrepreneurs in Lagos

 Standard Chartered Bank (Nigeria) Limited hosted the maiden edition of the Standard Chartered Pop-Up Market for budding entrepreneurs in Lagos recently.

The event brought together over 45 entrepreneurs across various sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, fashion and design, skincare, hair care, merchandizing, baking, catering and more. This is one of the innovative ways the Bank continues to drive its Community Impact and Diversity and Inclusion strategy in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Joke Adu, Acting Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing said, ‘The event is designed to promote awareness on the Bank’s Supplier Diversity and Inclusion strategy for small and women owned businesses and also amplifies the strategic support the Bank provides to aspiring entrepreneurs through our various Futuremakers Community Impact initiative (that focuses on education, employability, and entrepreneurship) including our Aspiring Entrepreneurs Program (AEP) implemented by Fate Foundation. This is the first edition of the SC Pop up and we look forward to hosting more in the future.’

Adenike Adeyemi, Executive Director, Fate Foundation added, ‘’FATE Foundation is excited about this partnership with the Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria to enhance market access opportunities for some of our young entrepreneurs as they showcase their products and expand revenue generation opportunities.

This is a continuation of investments by the Bank since 2021 to enhance economic opportunity pathways for young and underserved entrepreneurs to sustain and grow their businesses. Futuremakers by Standard Chartered (Futuremakers) is Standard Chartered Bank’s global youth economic empowerment initiative to tackle inequality and promote greater economic inclusion in the Group’s markets.

Futuremakers supports disadvantaged young people, especially women and people with disabilities, to learn, earn, and grow.
