TotalEnergies Green Lights Another $850 million Angola Subsea Project

TotalEnergies has launched a new $850 million subsea project in Angola as part of a countrywide energy development initiative that includes investment in solar power.

The French giant operates multiple floating production, storage and offloading vessels on blocks 17, 17/06 and 32 in Angola and is working on an FPSO scheme at block 21.

In an effort to maintain production at these facilities, the supermajor has been carrying out development and infill drilling work as well as subsea satellite tie-backs to these vessels.

TotalEnergies on Thursday said it had launched the Begonia oil project on Block 17/06, just a day after it partnered with Eni in taking the final investment decision on the Quiluma and Maboqueiro gas project — which the French company calls Non-Associated Gas 1 (NAG 1) — in Angola.
