Tinubu Returns to Lagos After France, Kenya and Rwanda Diplomatic Tour

Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Lagos on Friday evening following a three-nation diplomatic and investment-focused visit to France, Kenya and Rwanda, where he engaged global investors, African leaders and multinational business executives on economic reforms and regional integration.

The presidential aircraft landed at about 7:12 p.m. at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.

The Nigerian leader was received by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat, presidential Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa and other senior government officials.

Focus on Economic Reforms and Investment

During his visit to France, Tinubu met with global investors and reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, fiscal discipline and market-oriented economic reforms aimed at stabilizing Nigeria’s economy and attracting long-term capital.

The president used the engagements to explain the rationale behind recent policy measures, including fiscal and monetary reforms introduced since taking office.

Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi

In Nairobi, Tinubu participated in the Africa Forward Summit, co-hosted by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto.

At the summit, the Nigerian president advocated reforms to the global financial system and called for stronger African economic integration to support sustainable growth, trade expansion and infrastructure development across the continent.

He also highlighted Nigeria’s ambitions in the blue economy sector, describing maritime development as a strategic pillar for Africa’s economic future. Tinubu pledged to share Nigeria’s maritime intelligence infrastructure with willing Gulf of Guinea countries to strengthen regional security and maritime cooperation.

While in Kenya, the president also held bilateral talks with Michael Randrianirina.

Africa CEO Forum in Rwanda

Tinubu later traveled to Kigali, where he joined African heads of state, investors and corporate executives at the Africa CEO Forum.

Discussions at the forum focused on accelerating Africa’s economic transformation through regional integration, increased intra-African investment and cross-border business expansion.

The president also met with Paul Kagame and held separate discussions with senior executives from organizations including International Finance Corporation, APM Terminals and Winme Group.

According to the presidency, the meetings produced positive outcomes linked to investment opportunities and economic cooperation.

APC Primaries

Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos for the All Progressives Congress primary elections beginning Saturday.

Ahead of the exercise, the president urged party members and aspirants to maintain peace and uphold democratic conduct throughout the primaries, calling on participants to act “in the overall interest of the party and the country.”
