Pan-Atlantic University has announced the death of Professor Albert Alos, its pioneer Vice-Chancellor and Founding Dean of Lagos Business School, who died on September 5, 2026.

Professor Alos was a distinguished scholar, educator and institution builder whose leadership helped lay the foundations of Pan-Atlantic University and Lagos Business School as institutions committed to academic excellence, ethical leadership and service.

During his tenure as pioneer Vice-Chancellor and Founding Dean of Lagos Business School, he played a central role in establishing the academic culture and institutional values that continue to shape the university and its business school.

The university said his contribution extended beyond teaching and administration, as he influenced generations of students, faculty members, alumni and colleagues through his emphasis on professionalism, integrity and service to society.

Pan-Atlantic University said Professor Alos’s vision was instrumental in developing an educational philosophy focused not only on academic competence but also on producing responsible leaders capable of contributing to Nigeria, Africa and the wider global community.

The Vice-Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University, Professor Enase Okonedo, described his death as a significant loss to the institution and the wider academic community.

“Professor Albert Alos leaves behind a legacy deeply woven into the history and ethos of Pan-Atlantic University. As a teacher, mentor and leader, he inspired countless individuals through his wisdom, integrity and service. His contributions will continue to influence generations to come,” Okonedo said.

The university said his legacy remains embedded in the development of Pan-Atlantic University and Lagos Business School, particularly in their emphasis on leadership development, responsible management and academic excellence.

His work at Lagos Business School also formed part of the foundation of an institution that has become an important centre for management education in Nigeria and Africa.

Pan-Atlantic University expressed condolences to Professor Alos’s family, friends, former students, colleagues and others who knew him.

The university community said it would continue to honour his memory and the contribution he made to education and leadership development.

It also called on members of the university community and the public to remember Professor Alos and his family in their prayers and to pray for the peaceful repose of his soul.
