Oyo State Government has trained 440 management staff members for efficiency in the use of modern teleconferencing applications to make workplace communication easier and make possible improved delivery.

The eleven days training which covered 40 management staff members from level 14 to 17 was held at Simeon Adebo Training Center, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan and ended on Monday.

According to the Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperative,. Oyesola Oyedele, the training was intended to put the management staff at par with their peers anywhere in the globe in dispensing their statutory works, at every occasion, no matter the circumstance.

He hinted that the outbreak of Covid-19 was a lesson for the world to learn from, as the call for social distancing became the norm, necessitating the usage of teleconferencing applications for official communication.

He said the knowledge acquisition exercise was to complement the initial efforts of the government in the areas of distribution of Information Communication Technology (ICT) hardware and installation of the internet in all the Ministries, Directorates and Agencies (MDAs) of the State government, as Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Team applications were deployed.

Oyedele added that the State has subscribed to the Microsoft Teams Application to create unlimited usage for the users.

”We must first appreciate the present administration under Governor Seyi Makinde, for making possible the distribution of ICT hardware and installation of internet routers to all the MDAs under the State.

“This training is, therefore, the other leg of the intervention, which is knowledge acquisition and it will certainly bring the management staff members to be at par with their colleagues from anywhere in the world, which is to sharpen their skills and also improve their efficiency.”

The Permanent Secretary went further to say that the 440 participants would form the fulcrum upon which the second and third batches of the training would be based.

He advised that the recipients of the training workshop be the first point of change and persistent usage of the applications
