EFFURUN, Delta State — The Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN) is set to host the 2026 Human Capital Development (HCD) Conference and Expo from August 19 to 21 at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State.
The three-day industry gathering will bring together stakeholders from Nigeria’s oil and gas sector to examine how human capital development, workforce performance and skills innovation can support the industry’s long-term growth and competitiveness.
The conference is themed “Empowering People, Driving Performance, Shaping the Future of the Oil and Gas Industry.”
The event comes as Nigeria’s oil and gas industry faces growing pressure to develop a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting new investments, technological change and the country’s evolving energy landscape.
OGTAN Conference to Spotlight Human Capital Development
The conference programme will feature plenary sessions, exhibitions and interactive industry activities designed to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration among professionals, trainers, businesses and other stakeholders.
A golf tournament is scheduled as a pre-event activity on August 19, ahead of the main conference programme.
The organisers will also host hackathon challenges, providing a platform for participants to showcase technology-driven solutions and innovative approaches to challenges facing the oil and gas industry.
Other activities include a welcome barbecue and the HCD Award Ceremony, which will recognise contributions to human capital development and industry performance.
OGTAN’s conference theme places workforce development at the centre of discussions about the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
As the sector responds to changes in global energy markets, digitalisation, operational efficiency requirements and increased competition for investment, industry participants are placing greater emphasis on technical skills, leadership development and workforce productivity.
The conference is therefore expected to provide a platform for industry stakeholders to exchange ideas on building a workforce capable of supporting Nigeria’s ambitions for a more competitive and sustainable energy sector.
