Preparations are underway as Marketing Edge, Nigeria’s foremost brand-centric publication, strategically positioned to promote the brand idea, unveils its 20th Anniversary, and announces the industry-wide 2023 National Marketing  Summit and  Marketing Edge Brand and Advertising Excellence  Awards.

The events are billed to be held on the 15th and 16th of September, 2023, respectively.

This year’s event is dubbed the EDGE Awards, an initiative of MARKETING EDGE to recognize outstanding achievements across the nation’s integrated marketing communications spectrum. The Summit will be held on the 15th, while the EDGE Awards ceremony will be held on the 16th at the prestigious The Podium Event Centre, 124, T.F. Kuboye Road, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos, by 5:00 PM.

In a statement released in Lagos during a press conference held at the corporate headquarters of MARKETING EDGE in Ikeja, the organisers revealed that activities are lined up to make sure that this year’s events will stand out as the numero uno of all awards in Nigeria.

According to the organisers, the summit is billed to be held virtually and will have IVAN MOROKE, the CEO of Kantar Insight Division, South Africa, Regional Lead Inclusion and Diversity Kantar, Middle East and Africa, lead the conversation. He will be delivering his keynote alongside other industry thought leaders across various sectors of the global economy.

The theme of this year’s Summit is: “The Sustainable Growth of Marketers: Adapting to Challenging Opportunities In a Disrupted World”. The Summit shall witness Mr. MOROKE, other industry intellectuals and ideas power-houses share invaluable insights on how various key players can navigate the prevailing business hurdles and economic headwinds, while harnessing opportunities and maintaining best global practices in the rapidly evolving marketing landscape.

Addressing newsmen during the weekend, Publisher/Chief Executive Officer of Marketing  Edge  Group, John Ajayi, who is also the Convener of the annual National Marketing Stakeholders Summit and Brands & Advertising Awards of Excellence, said, “Traditionally, the Marketing Edge Brand and Advertising Excellence  Awards has become the acme of events in the social calendar of the integrated marketing communications industry in Nigeria, as well as a global talking point.”

Mr. Ajayi dissected some of the symbols on the legendary EDGE Trophy saying, “Only those who have excelled in the marketing space can aspire to receive the EDGE Trophy, which stands as an iconic sign of achievement.

“The trident is the weapon of Poseidon or Neptune, the God of the Sea in classical mythology.”

He further explained that the trident signifies the domination of the seas across Roman, Greek, and Hindu mythologies. “Shiva, one of the Hindu triumvirates, warded off malevolent beings with his trident.”

Expatiating the colour pallet, the Marketing Edge boss noted that the gold colour of Trident is the colour of success, achievement, and triumph. “The colour of wealth and high status. It is associated with wealth, luxury, quality, reputation, sophistication, elegance.”

The EDGE Trophy base, which is adorned with obsidian black, is said to be the colour psychology and symbolises mystery, power, strength, seriousness, authority and elegance.

Meanwhile, Marketing Edge Brand and Advertising Excellence  Awards commemorate its twenty years of operations in the competitive Nigerian media market. The new logo, which has an impactful look and feel, typically personifies the brand as an avant-garde media platform. The brand colours were beautifully projected with topnotch creative ingenuity, which depict the true elements and brand personae of the authoritative media group. It was disclosed that the new logo will begin to feature all through the activities lined up for the twentieth anniversary celebrations, which will be running through an entire week and climaxed by the yearly awards and anniversary dinner.
