 Industrialists’ Tenacity Amidst Gloomy Economy Applauded By Olubadan

Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen. Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade ll on Tuesday lauded what he described as uncommon tenacity of purpose of the country’s industrialists’ amidst the gloomy economy which he said has kept the country moving despite all odds.

Oba Balogun made this remark at the premises of Henkel Nigeria Ltd., Oluyole Industrial Estate during his royal visit to the company at the request of the Chairman/Managing Director of the company, Mr. Rajat Kapur during which the monarch accompanied by three of his members of Olubadan-in-Council were briefed about the prospects and challenges of the detergent producing company.

Olubadan, who commended the company for staying afloat and making robust contributions to the economic growth of Ibadan in particular and Nigeria in general noted the hardship industrialists are facing due to inclement economic weather, adding, “those of you forging ahead deserve commendation and I give you kudos”.

He urged the company not to rest on its oars, but to continue striving for greater exploits by improving on its rating as the second largest detergent producing company in the country and become number one, adding, “in doing that, let me have a greater feel of your presence in my domain by employing more of my children (Ibadan sons and daughters)”.

The Chairman/Managing Director, Mr. Kapur, accompanied by Roman Rylyk and Mrs. Jennifer Ikuenobe, the Plant Manager and Head of Human Resources respectively expressed gratitude to Olubadan and his entourage for the honour, stressing that the company with its parent body in Germany had been in existence for decades.

He told Kabiyesi and his members of Olubadan-in-Council that the product of the company had soared very high in the last four years of its debut in Nigeria. He said, “the company is today the second largest producer of detergent in the country and this is the fall-out of our cutting-edge activities in terms of production, distribution/marketing strategies”.

Oba Balogun, accompanied by Osi-Olubadan designate, Ekerin Balogun and Ekerin Olubadan designate, High Chiefs Eddy Oyewole, Olubunmi Isioye and Hamidu Ajibade respectively were told of the safety precautions put in place by the company to ensure the well-being of the workers and various corporate social responsibility activities to ingrain the company in the hearts of the people.

The Chairman/MD however lamented that the growth of the company would have been greater than being experienced if not for high rate of taxes, epileptic or none power supply and exorbitant price of diesel, adding, “we are conscious of the need to grow and do more than we are doing, but those factors mentioned above are serving as impediments”.
