There are unconfirmed reports that the Nigerian electricity industry, again, experienced another system or grid collapse at about 6.30 pm today, Friday.
This would be the third system collapse within three weeks. However some people at some of the generating stations claimed they are not aware of the incident, but others said they noticed some fluctuations of electricity generation in their plants but could not really ascertain if it was as a result of system collapse.
The grid collapse was said to be total.
Other industry operators told Business Standards that they may not really feel the effect of the grid collapse as their station’s generating capacity currently is very low.
Officials of some of the electricity distribution companies that Business Standards tried to confirm from whether there was anything like that happened, claimed they have not been informed about such incident. They however said they had electricity supply up till the time they left office this evening.
A call and text message to the Mba Ndidi, public affairs of Transmission Company of Nigeria were not responded to.
